Most Memorable CCAC Experience

My most memorable CCAC experience was winning a Faculty Impact Award at the SLED Awards last year. Dr. Justin Starr and Mary Beth Meyer took a chance on me teaching. Winning that award was validation that I was good at teaching and could make an impact. I made a positive impact on my students' lives with my unorthodox teaching style, and that is something I can cherish for the rest of my life.

Why I Teach What I Teach

I find it fascinating! Look, every day is an opportunity to learn something new. I like to know why things are the way they are. Why are roads laid out this way? What goes into the decisions to make them curve? What goes into creating a new site plan? How does one determine cost vs. environment? I love knowledge and knowing things. Did you know that the average lifespan of a road in Pennsylvania SHOULD be 50 years if PennDOT maintained it? Did you know that before Covid the most parking spaces that were ever used at South Campus were 750 parking spots at any given moment, out of over 1,300 spaces available? Like Schoolhouse Rock taught us, knowledge is power.

Something People Might Not Know About Me

I was on a reality television show in my youth called King of the Nerds! I finished Top 10…out of 12. It set me on the trajectory to where I am today!
