Parenting Scholars Program

Students must complete the application and a committee will review their information. All students who meet the eligibility requirements and complete the FAFSA will be considered for the scholarship. Priority will be given to students who demonstrate how the program will benefit them in achieving their academic and career goals. Spaces are limited and not all applicants will be accepted into the program.

Students who are accepted into the program will be expected to participate in a few support programs including program orientation, regular one on one check in meetings as well as workshops. These will be provided at various times and virtual options will be provided. In addition, students must remain in good academic, financial and behavioral standing. Students who do not maintain their standing will not receive funding for the second semester.

Applications are due August 1st and our goal is to notify students before August 15th. This will allow you to make adjustments to your schedule or academic plans as needed.

Students can receive a maximum of $5,000 spread over 1 or 2 semesters. The number of semesters will be determined based on your academic plans and credit completion. The funding amount is determined by our Financial Aid office based on your total cost of attendance minus any gift or grant aid for which you are eligible. The total cost of attendance includes tuition, mandatory fees, books, supplies, transportation, and miscellaneous expenses. Students must complete the 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and work with the Financial Aid office to determine the amount of scholarship funding for which they might be eligible. Funding cannot exceed the determined total cost of attendance. Upon acceptance to the program, you will be notified of the award amount.

No, you do not need to enroll in a certain number of credits. However, applications should include your plans in terms of how you are planning to complete your program. Funding is only available for 2 semesters and the goal is to have students who will complete their program within that timeline.

The program is funded through a grant which means there are limitations on how many students can be served and for how long. We anticipate being able to accepted 25–40 students into the program. Acceptance is based on your application which will be reviewed by a committee. Funding is available only for the Academic Year 2024–2025.

Yes, students in non-credit programs are eligible. However, all applicants must complete a FAFSA even if the program is not eligible for federal aid. The scholarship may not cover the entire cost of the program.
