CCAC Students Interested in a Technology Career Can Apply for a TechWise Scholarship; Applications for Google-Sponsored Training Program Due Jan. 31.
The Community College of Allegheny County is offering an extraordinary opportunity for students who are interested in a career in technology. TechWise, a Google-sponsored training program, is being made available for free to 20 students enrolled at CCAC, one of only five colleges in the nation participating in the program.
TechWise is an 18-month program that empowers capable students to get ready for high-growth tech careers. Selected students will devote approximately 10 hours per week to TechWise, which begins in March and is taken concurrently with CCAC's academic programs. This program is designed for participants with an interest in potentially becoming software engineers; however, students need not be in a CIT program to apply.
Student applications are due by January 31. TechWise will review applications, conduct interviews and make the selections during February. Google will cover 100% of the cost of the program, and selected students will also earn a stipend to help address some of their basic expenses so they can more fully focus on their learning goals.
