KDKA-TV Features CCAC Students at Allegheny County Police and Fire Academy

Allegheny County Fire Academy and Police cadets received a special "thank you" from CCAC's vocational education students on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The event was scheduled to observe Fire Prevention Week by honoring local first responders. CCAC Vocational Education Training Program Instructor Chef Randy Herbe and the program's food service students personally thanked the fire fighters and first responders in training. The group served cake as part of a special complimentary lunch menu. Firetrucks and SWAT vehicles were on display as part of the event.
CCAC, through the college's Vocational Education Training program, offers food service training for students who need special educational support. As part of the program, students prepare meals (breakfast and/or lunch) for the Allegheny County Police and Fire Academy cadets for fifteen weeks each semester. The new CCAC food service student crew began training at the academy last month, preparing and serving daily meals for up to 35 cadets. The CCAC Vocational Education Training programs are designed for students who excel outside the typical college environment. Students train for careers in indoor and outdoor building maintenance, food service, environmental services, or nursing assistant/health care technician.
