PITTSBURGH

Dr. Rebecca DuPont, associate professor of Multimedia Communications at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC), received an Innovation in Education Award from the Pittsburgh Technology Council during the Three Rivers Educational Technology Conference last week.

Dr. DuPont teaches multimedia communications at CCAC North Campus and serves as the coordinator for the college's Multimedia & Gaming programs. She also coordinates the college's partnership with Schell Games, through which students benefit from professional apprenticeship opportunities.

This award highlighted her collaboration with Student Services to develop a robust eSports community at CCAC, with the goal of developing a future eSports certificate program. The first experimental asynchronous course for this program is launching during the 2024 spring semester.

"We are thrilled that the Pittsburgh Technology Council has bestowed this award on Dr. DuPont. She is a dedicated educator whose passion, expertise and track record of entrepreneurism in expanding STEM-related opportunities/careers is unparalleled," said Dr. Evon Walters, CCAC Northwest Region president.

Dr. Dupont also delivered a presentation at the Three Rivers Educational Technology Conference titled "Preparing for the Artificial Revolution: Students & AI in the Classroom."
