About the Maternity Doula Training Program
CCAC's new Maternity Doula program is the first of its kind in the region-a formal curriculum developed in partnership with the Pittsburgh-based organization Masters of Maternity (MOM).
The program was created by professional maternity doulas and midwives who recognized the urgent need to provide better care for pregnant people and their families. Its comprehensive training qualifies students to support the entire reproductive journey, from fertility through pregnancy, labor, childbirth, postpartum, breastfeeding and bereavement.
In just nine weeks of classes, students gain 45 hours of instruction from practicing maternity doulas and midwives. Classes combine hands-on learning with virtual teaching and online interaction for maximum accessibility.
In addition to perinatal training, the Maternity Doula program prepares students to start their own successful business, including marketing strategies, managing clients and beginning the application process for Medicaid reimbursement.
About Master's of Maternity
Masters of Maternity is the first company in Pennsylvania to provide an integrated technology service for maternal resources to autonomously collaborate and act as a tool for both moms and motherhood resources, enabling the transformation of maternal care. As Masters of Maternity continues to evolve, it currently stands as the Pennsylvania maternal directory, a dual-sided platform connecting expecting families to any Pennsylvania-based maternal specialists of their choice.
Program Outcomes
Maternity Doulas are currently in high demand. Graduates will have the skills necessary to work for hospitals or maternity doula agencies. They may also choose to set up their own practice, serving up to three or four families per month.
Upon completion of the Maternity Doula program, students will receive a Comprehensive Perinatal Doula certificate, which attests to the graduates' ability to support the full spectrum of reproductive services offered across the various disciplines of perinatal doula types.
Maternity Doula certification is granted by Masters of Maternity in partnership with CCAC.
